I was just three pounds in a shelter in Puerto Rico — unwanted and diagnosed blind. They said no one would want me.
But then came a rescue plane ride to Florida and the day I met my Mom! Everyone told her I couldn’t see, but she looked into my green eyes and believed in me anyway. After many visits to eye specialists, I was diagnosed with a retinal detachment of my left eye. My eye wouldn't have vision again but I could still see from my right eye.
Then, at just six months old — on a Thursday — I went completely blind. My mom rushed me to the doctor and learned my right retina had detached too. She had five days to decide about a very complicated surgery, but she didn’t wait — she signed me up that day. Eight weeks later, I was healing and back to “my normal.”
At a year and a half old, my left eye began to bulge and turn black. It was glaucoma and it needed to be removed. Another surgery and more healing. Through it all, I stayed happy, loving, and sweet — because that’s who I am.
In my short three years on Earth, I’ve been through a lot. But with my mom by my side, I know I can overcome anything.
My mom was so inspired by my journey that she started this business and made me the logo — with some of the proceeds going directly to animal rescue, in my honor. May we all share a "Wink" of happiness ❤️
